Creative Syrup or Creative Juice?

Have you ever wondered why some musicians are one-hit-wonders? Or why some artists paint one great painting and then nothing else? Maybe there was one magnificent poem that came in an instant, and then the well went dry?

It seems to me that creative juice was dumped on them. Where did they get those ideas? That moment of inspiration. Or the muscle memory to swing that winning stroke? Maybe someone was trying to give them a jump-start, but their engine didn’t rev; it petered out. Did it come from them, or maybe it was an instance of divine intervention –

Creative Juice =

It’s like turning a cup upside down on someone after squeezing it out of the fruit. Hmmm…

Now what’s better than creative juice is

Creative Syrup =

A translucent Carmel Syrup with a rich, sweet, thick consistency flows slowly and steadily for long periods of time. Similar to tree sap. The kind of original thought that crystallizes when new brain pathways develop.

Creative Syrup because you worked hard. You were diligent, and new pathways were paved in your brain, tapping into original thought.

Your tree trunk is thick, circles complete, you’ve earned your stripes, and drip syrup amber and thick. Maybe consistently or possibly seasonally, you find inspiration and create something new and original.
