I was at an event the other night for a nonprofit organization and a couple shared their love story. They disclosed how, as they got closer to one another, they moved closer to God, and their dreams became realities. It was a beautiful story of how seeking one another in faith brings the Kingdom of God from Heaven down to Earth.
As they spoke about the great work they have done for this nonprofit organization, it reminded me of a conversation I had with Jesus not long ago. He said to me, “Amy, my beloved, the closer you get to me the more your dreams will become my dreams. And as a result, the more my dreams will become your dreams. So, don’t give your dreams up. Keep chasing them and we will do great things together.”
It also reminded me of a “Dream” I had a few months back. The dream reminds me of how “oneness” with God can illuminate the Kingdom on earth:
Last night when I got to Heaven:
Jesus and I sat on this huge concrete ledge with our legs draped one over each side of the wall. On one side of the wall, we look down upon the earth and on the other, we look over at Heaven. It was a beautiful night, stars spanning across the dark sky and he whispers the sweetest words in my ears.
I could feel his love penetrating right through me and I could tell that he was pleased. His smile was soft and touch gentle. I ask him why he was so happy tonight. Rather than answer, he asks me back, “what do you think you are doing that is pleasing to me?” For a minute I think. Then I say, “I am loving you and spending time with you.” He smiles and says, “Yes that makes me very happy. Tell me more because there are at least a hundred things right now that are pleasing to me about you.”
My eyes gaze down momentarily as I collect my thoughts.
I begin to ramble as many things as I can think of. My eyes are fixed on you, scripture is rolling off my lips daily, and I am feeding the hungry. I am providing water for the poor. I am not worrying about money and giving freely because it all belongs to you anyway. After a while, he grabbed both of my hands and leaned in to embrace me. It was gentle, and my entire body radiated. He pulls me forward and motions for me to turn around. I am leaning my body back against his chest and he wraps his arms around me.
We sat for a few minutes looking at the magnificence of what he had created. I sat in awe as I relaxed my body right into his. He asked me what I saw when I looked down at the earth that made me sad. Looking at Heaven was easy because I was so much happier there.
I thought for a minute before I started to speak:
“There are priests who represent you that violate children and cover it up. They go unpunished. There are men who physically and emotionally abuse women and get away with it. I see children that are hungry and thirsty and nobody is feeds them or gives them water. There are children bullied and isolated and escalate to violence killing our people. I see mentally ill people wondering the streets. There are lazy people who wont lift a finger to do anything for themselves. But they open their hands for a free ride. There are single mothers raising children on their own while deadbeat dads run around with younger women. They don’t support for their families. Old people are lonely and left without purpose. Many people are missing out on the best part of life.
With tears rolling down my eyes, twist around to look at him and say, “that is why I like to look at Heaven instead.” I am happier with you. I twist back to lean my head against his chest and he wraps his arms around me tightly. Then he says, “close your eyes sweetheart and get some sleep now.”
When I wake up, we stand up with one leg on either side of the concrete wall. The ground was below both of my feet. Heaven on earth – Time was standing still. THE LEAVES DANCED IN THE AIR AND DEFIED GRAVITY and nobody seemed surprised.
The Oneness of Creation
Mark 12:28 – 34
One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him, “Which is the first of all of the commandments?” Jesus replied, “The first is this: Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. there is no other commandment greater than these.” The scribe said to him, “Well said teacher.
You are right in saying, “He is One and there is no other than he.” And “to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And no one dared to ask him any more questions.
