Aurora Now Evanescent

by Amy Jean

The rubbish I see, heft burden on me!

As I silhouette, I execute a cosmic pirouette

viewing many who lack etiquette:

A drop cloth, larceny, cascading to glitter

Now luscious opulence surrounds?

Ethereal serendipity lost

Aurora now evanescent.

As all collect cents,

while losing sense and scent

Serenity gone

The garbageman I perceive

hauled away trash from my dreams

removing many scenes that made me scream

=

A plethora of precious moments minus eerie views between

A zig-zag stitch, a seam

To fix me, it would seem

Ineffable love, mends, begets

Flummoxed, I waver

Myopic vision vanishes

No noxious flimflam nor brouhaha stymies my zeal

Sturdy like a sequoia, euphoria shrouds me

Wanderlust quenched

Ready to pass

Past dusk to an iridescent twilight

The succulent saccharine of vellichor

Quintessential peace surrounds me

And now, I rest

Vellichor – n. the strange wistfulness of used bookstores, which are somehow infused with the passage of time.

Job 14, NIV

Its roots may grow old in the ground
    and its stump die in the soil,
yet at the scent of water it will bud
    and put forth shoots like a plant.
10 But a man dies and is laid low;
    he breathes his last and is no more.

Isaiah 25, NIV

On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare
    a feast of rich food for all peoples,
a banquet of aged wine—
    the best of meats and the finest of wines.
On this mountain he will destroy
    the shroud that enfolds all peoples,
the sheet that covers all nations;
    he will swallow up death forever.
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears
    from all faces;
he will remove his people’s disgrace
    from all the earth.
The Lord has spoken.
