A Memoir Lasts
Poetry and Art Depicts A Memoir of the Past

Pictures and art to display
Mistakes and blessings made
A Foundation Laid
To pave the way
Architecture to erect
and repair
what was laid bare
Tall and wide to cross the divide
A Future Seen
We Dreamed A Possible Dream
A Memoir of the past replayed again and again can warm confused hearts to drive to completion what seemed “The Impossible Dream”
-Amy Jean

I spend a ridiculous amount of time thinking and reflecting. Our story is displayed everywhere, and I can’t hide from it. The past rolling forward again and again. I wander museums and see the same stories, the same themes repeated. And I write them again.
In my memoir, The Kingdom has Arrived Volume 1: Foundations, and Volume 2: Passion’s Fire, history repeats. Poetic snapshots of the historical circle we repeat are seen in my Side Steps books.
Here’s a sneak peek of my upcoming book, Glorious Heights Bring Joyful Delights:
The Greatest Love Of All
A tent for two—just me and you
To lay the bait and reverse the gate
A place where we could run and hide
from a past where we were
forced to divide
The view of you stepping through
held me tight for many nights
Your words I read
through other hands
and for many generations,

Our longing grew
drawing me wholly back to you
The distance fanned
and we lost sight
of the dream we dreamed
when we were teens
to make choices
outside of slavery
We turned the tables
on those who didn’t know
Our powerful Love
would throw the final blow
and display to all
why we decided to go
